I really do think that in a previous lifetime I was an Island Girl. I love Caribbean food and no place in Sacramento does it better than Café Connection across from the Capitol.

For the last three years, I’ve worked around the corner and I eat here a lot. It’s one of the only places I can get really good goat curry and oxtails, although those are periodic specials. Jerk chicken and curry chicken are always available and always tasty too.

Today and tomorrow, and until supplies run out, they have JERK TURKEY for Thanksgiving. I had some last year and was waiting for them to open today to make sure I didn’t miss out. This is spicy, juicy, flavorful turkey with squash and greens, over red beans and rice, topped with gravy and cranberry sauce. It is so good. And since it’s such a different take on the traditional Thanksgiving feast, you won’t have flavor fatigue on Thursday. So please, give our local restaurants some love.
